Tragic News

I just found out today that Michael Turner, my absolute favorite artist and my inspiration for even being an artist, died this past weekend. This guy was an amazing artist and a true storyteller. He inspired me in so much of my art and design and his stories helped me to have the desire and passion to be an artist. I'm really saddened by this and I my heart goes out to his family and friends. I know he will be missed. :(

If you have not downloaded this yet, you are missing out. :)

New Site Design

Coming up with a new site design. Basically I'm getting rid of the Dreams.in.tech.nicolr design, because for one thing I have recieved much positive feedback. Little too busy I think was what came up usually. Plus I actually already have my LLC in the name of Rough Edit Productions, so I needed to do this anyway. So here is a new design. I am thinking of using this same treatment in my new demo reel as well. I have alot of new content planned to create for reel as well. Need some more commercial stuff to living it up. What do you guys think?

Banksy

Just thought I would share some banksy with you. This artist is in Britain. He does a lot of street art that is very political and I think the stuff is beautiful. Take a look if you like. :)

iPhone Fund

OK, I've been debating and debating, and I've finally realized apple had me at Hello, lol. I am totally convinced I want an iPhone. But its a bit too expensive for me to pay all on my own. So to fix that little problem, I figured I could come up with fun thing to do for my birthday. So instead of a gift or gift card to best buy or anything like that, I am hoping (this is all dependent on you actually wanting to get me a gift ;-) everyone could contribute a donation to the "Help Emrys get an iPhone fund" for my birthday. The 8 GB version dropped down to $399, so this is how much I would want to raise, including however much money I can spare to get there. Hope this works. lol, cause I'm totally convinced I want it now. ;-)

A Day with the Cats

Check this out. This is one of Rich's new pieces he made. He got the inspiration for it from an artist named Mihai Popa. This artist did a piece on an elephant racing grayhound dogs. Pretty awesome. Well Rich decided he wanted to do a piece like that but with big cats of the world. Pretty awesome. Have a look.

It's inspired me to do a new Motion Graphics piece along the same lines. I'm gonna keep it secret until its finished though. ; )

Sunshine

This movie looks amazing. I really love these types of stories that dive into not only how we do things to save ourselves, but why. The website says it comes out July 20th. Hopefully that the wide release. I can't wait to see it. Here is the description the had on the website.

"'The premise of SUNSHINE,' explains producer Andrew Macdonald, 'is that in 50 years from now the Sun is dying. It is no longer providing the energy and the light that mankind needs to survive on Earth. The entire global community pools its resources to send a mission into space to deliver a bomb to reignite the part of the Sun that is failing. Our story concerns the eight astronauts and scientists who lead this mission. On their journey towards the Sun the crew stumble upon the ship that was sent on the same mission seven years previously, the Icarus I, drifting in space. From this point on things start to go very wrong and it’s about how the crew react under the enormous pressure of their endeavor to save mankind.'"

Update: This movie doesn't actually premiere in Denver until July 27th so I won't get to see it til next week. That bummed me out, but oh well. It's worth waiting for. :)

prospect

"My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny." ~ Elaine Maxwell

"In a linear conception of time, the future is the portion of the timeline that has yet to occur, i.e. the place in space-time where lie all events that still have not occurred. In this sense the future is opposed to the past (the set of moments and events that have already occurred) and the present (the set of events that are occurring now)." ~ Wikipedia.org

New Phone

Just testing out my new phone and its camera. I bought the new blackjack today and its pretty cool. The camera on this thing is amazing. : )

New Orleans and Bourbon Street

Downtown from I-12 I think. Best overall pic I could take at the time.

This is the 9th ward I believe. I was kind of mixed up as to where I was. You can see how much devastation is still left in these areas. This is how most of the southern part of the city looks. There were other parts that I saw later that had full roofs covered in moss. Amazing.

These are of the Supreme Court building in the french quarter. Burbon street is only two blocks over from here. Beautiful building. My company is helping to do the restoration of the basement after the flooding did quite a lot of damage.

Burbon Street : )

Mamzers Dream

I posted some new photo composites to my flickr page. Check it out and leave comments please. Helps me to know where to improve. ; )

Focus

"Focusing is not a technique, but a naturally occurring human process. When we are focusing, we are intending to establish an interaction between our rational understanding and our somatically rooted “knowing”." ~ Wikipedia.org

Still working on this ; )

Mamzers Dream Shoot

Here are the raw photos from my shoot I did for the local band Mamzers Dream. We went out to this cool pedestrian bridge I like to go to in LoDo Denver. Tell me what you think of these. : )

The Last Question

Ryan had found this story on digg.com the other day. It was an amazing story about a simple question. It reminded me a lot of the Fountain. It was a brilliant movie by Darren Aronofsky. He made Requiem for a dream and Pi before that. The answer just blows you away. I would have to say that the story relates to a lot of the beliefs I have on existence and how we work as Human Beings. Read it. Its a short story so it won't take you too long. Maybe 20 minutes. Its absolutely worth your time though.

Boiling Point

This photo was just too amazing not to blog it. It was taken by this artist: http://ahermin.deviantart.com/

Even his note for the image was pretty cool : )

"Waves creation secret revealed! Hard evidence available! This is how G-d crafts them! He simply uses a ray beam to bring the Ocean at boiling point…"

Road to the Moon

I don't know he you can see it, this moon just looked amazing. : )

New Wallpaper Plans

I went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science over the weekend. I went there to see the space odyssey exhibit and planetarium. It was a lot of fun. I have always been so fascinated by space and NASA. Well it gave me the idea for what I am going to do for my next wallpaper. This one I am going to be spending a lot of time on so it may take me a couple days. I am going to actually try and do some hardcore painting in it as. I'll have more on this soon. : )

Here is also a video I found on Google video about the moon landing. So awesome. : )
